Launching the Asia Region Survivor and Allies Network (ARSAN)

We are excited to announce the official launch of the Asia Region Survivor and Allies Network (ARSAN). ARSAN brings together survivors of human trafficking and allies in a unified, regional network dedicated to strengthening survivor leadership, fostering cross-border collaboration, and influencing policy change. Founded by leaders from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India, ARSAN offers a unique platform that combines survivor insight with ally-driven support, marking a pivotal turning point in the regional anti-trafficking movement.

ARSAN is a co-led network in which survivors and allies work together to strategically reimagine and advance anti-trafficking efforts across Asia. Survivors, whose voices have been historically marginalized within the movement, are now placed at the center of decision-making processes, working alongside allies in a spirit of mutual dignity and respect. ARSAN members model regional collaboration and amplify the leadership and lived expertise of both survivors and allies.

The concept for ARSAN was first conceived at the 2023 Asia Regional Anti-Trafficking (ARAT) Conference in Bali, in which a group of survivor leaders and allies envisioned a regional network grounded in inclusive engagement, mutual trust, diversity of thought, and shared voices. The formal launch of ARSAN’s membership will take place at the 2025 ARAT Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand from July 22 to 24, 2025. This noteworthy occasion will unite regional anti-trafficking advocates in a joint commitment to survivor leadership and lasting systematic change.

Eleison is incredibly excited about the launch of ARSAN, and we are proud to have two of our leaders serving as ARSAN Partners. The network’s structure and mission align with our survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches. We look forward to sharing our vision and purpose with the broader network, and partnering with ARSAN in establishing and strengthening survivor-led initiatives and networks across Asia.
