Crisis Intervention Services for Survivors

Survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence frequently encounter many crises throughout their recovery process. These include suicidal thoughts and attempts, interpersonal and community violence, and acute mental health crises. Unfortunately, the majority of survivors are unable to access the mental health and crisis intervention services they need. With a steadfast commitment to supporting and empowering survivors, Eleison provides crisis intervention services designed to address the unique needs of survivors, prioritizing their immediate safety and well-being.

We recognize the profound impact of trauma on survivors and adopt a trauma-informed approach in our crisis intervention services, providing immediate, short-term counseling and psychological support. Our staff are available to respond to crisis situations 7 days per week. We actively assess the risk level of survivors who exhibit common warning signs or disclose safety concerns using standardized and validated assessment tools. In our crisis intervention sessions, we utilize evidence-based approaches to reduce acute risk that are appropriate for implementation in low-resource settings. Staff collaborate with survivors to help them understand their warning signs, strengthen their internal and social supports, and develop safety plans tailored to their unique circumstances. By addressing these immediate needs, we ensure that survivors have access to essential resources and help connect them with relevant support networks, including healthcare providers, legal services, and social welfare agencies.

We understand the complex emotional, psychological, and physical needs of survivors. We offer extended support to survivors beyond the immediate intervention by monitoring for future indicators of distress, assisting them with referral needs, and being available to revisit crisis cases if safety concerns resurface. Through this continued assistance, we help survivors process their experiences, rebuild their lives, develop resilience, and maintain their well-being in the face of complex challenges.

Investing in and prioritizing immediate crisis intervention services is critical to supporting survivors in their recovery. By addressing immediate safety concerns, providing emotional support, and connecting survivors with essential resources, these services lay the foundation for survivors to reclaim their lives, make informed decisions, and embark on a path toward healing and safety.
