Expanding Access to Mental Health Education

With support from the Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation, our mental health education workshops have become available to stakeholders nationwide in the Philippines. Our partnership with the Consuelo Foundation has given us the opportunity to provide mental health education for survivors of human trafficking and abuse and service providers at seven different agencies across the Philippines. In October and November 2024, we facilitated a total of 21 mental health education workshops for 203 clients and staff at Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, KnK Children Without Borders Philippines, Balay Rehabilitation Center, Bahay Tuluyan Foundation, Quidan Kaisahan Negros Occidental, Jeremiah 33:6-7 Foundation, and Fresh Hope for Families Philippines, with many participants joining multiple workshops.

We provided mental health education on three topics. In the first workshop on Stress Management and Self-Care, we facilitated psychoeducation on the impact of stress on mental health and equipped participants with tangible techniques to effectively navigate stressors while prioritizing self-care. Our second workshop on Health and Wellness explored different dimensions of health and discussed personalized ways of taking care of one’s health holistically to achieve wellness. The third workshop on Managing Emotions provided practical applications for identifying, understanding, and managing one’s emotions.

Both service providers and clients at these agencies provided positive feedback regarding their experiences in our workshops. One participant said:

“I would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the exceptional training session. Your dedication, expertise, and thoughtful approach created an engaging and meaningful learning experience for everyone involved. It was evident that you put immense care into making the session both informative and simplified, ensuring that each participant felt comfortable and involved. The girls and staff have shared how much they learned and how fortunate they feel to have had this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of mental health – a topic that is both complex and vital. Your ability to break down these concepts and foster open discussions was deeply appreciated. We look forward to applying what we’ve learned and hope to have the privilege of working with you again in the future.”

Thank you to the Consuelo Foundation for allowing Eleison to expand our reach and bring mental health support to a larger community of survivors and service providers. We look forward to future collaboration with the Consuelo Foundation team in addressing the mental health needs of both survivors and direct service providers.
