This month, we are pleased to feature one of our invaluable team members, Emma Weech, who currently works as an Operations Assistant. Emma originally joined Eleison as an intern while a college student at Brown University and returned to the Eleison team after finishing her B.A. in Environmental Studies and International and Public Affairs in 2025.

Emma supports our Executive Director with strategic oversight of grant and organizational budgets, maintenance of financial records, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). Emma assists in annual budget planning and management, helping to analyze the most effective funding allocations to maximize programmatic impact. Emma also helps the Executive Director in tracking organizational spending and grant financial reporting. Additionally, she supports with tracking quantitative and qualitative data collected for Eleison’s internal M&E and in compilation of data for reporting to external constituents.

In a recent interview, Emma shared about how working at Eleison has strengthened her professional skills. She explains:

“My work at Eleison has helped me explore the intersections among legal systems, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and community-based and survivor-centered services. In any profession, it is important to consider interdisciplinary approaches and perspectives to deliver comprehensive solutions. I have also attained skills in cross-cultural communication, meticulous recordkeeping, and time management. These tools are important in any field.”

In addition to advancing her professional skills, Emma remarks on the relationships she has developed with the Eleison team, noting the culture of community and care as a favorite part of her job:

“My favorite thing about working at Eleison is the team dynamic. It’s not an exaggeration to say that we are a family. In addition to the service and support we provide our clients and partners, Eleison prioritizes the care and well-being of all team members. The work we do can understandably be heavy, but we always make sure to check in with each other and take the time to celebrate team and personal milestones and achievements.”

Emma will attend law school at the University of Cambridge in the fall while continuing her work at Eleison. She shares that her post-graduate plans include a career rooted in law, social justice, human rights, and international relations. Emma notes that her role at Eleison has introduced her to “meaningful work that combines service, care, and research geared toward combatting injustice and supporting survivors.”

From our interns to our full-time staff, Eleison is committed to assisting in our team’s personal and professional development. We pride ourselves on providing opportunities for career advancement and growth for our team.
