Eleison experienced tremendous growth in 2022 after expanding operations in the Philippines in 2021. Over the past year, we launched new programs, increased the number of clients served, and broadened our network of partner organizations. As we reflect on 2022, we are delighted to announce the publication of our 2022 Annual Report. This report highlights Eleison’s accomplishments on our four integrated strategies – survivor services, research, capacity building, and grantmaking – all critical to supporting survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence in their recovery and healing.

As a grassroots community-based organization, we continually adapt our approach to meet our clients’ needs and adjust to the community’s ever-changing conditions. At the beginning of 2022, we heavily focused on providing emergency relief to our clients who had been greatly affected by Super Typhoon Odette through the Odette Emergency Response (OER) program. Our team of five carried out the OER, a four-phase emergency response program, from December 2021 to April 2022, providing critical assistance to survivors, such as essential food and water, psychosocial support, and cash transfers. Through our OER program, we conducted 286 engagements with clients, including 218 psychosocial support engagements, 114 cash transfers, and 68 emergency relief packs.

In 2022, we also launched the Healing and Resilience after Trauma (HaRT) program, a group mental health intervention for human trafficking survivors. In line with our commitment to research evidence and high-quality care, we simultaneously initiated a convergent mixed-methods study to assess how this community-based mental health intervention affects survivors’ psychological and social well-being. This study meets crucial gaps in the global evidence base on mental health services for human trafficking survivors in low-resource contexts.

We are grateful for your participation and support in ushering in a new season of growth and contributing to our mission of combating human trafficking and gender-based violence in deeply-affected communities. As we broaden our impact in 2023, we will continue to strengthen our community presence, prioritize survivors’ voices, and ensure that survivor leadership, research evidence, and community partnerships are at the heart of our work and organization.

Join us on our journey toward a better future. To learn more about our progress, see our 2022 Annual Report.
