Survivor Leadership Council (SLC) Shoe Drive

Eleison’s client advisory board, the Survivor Leadership Council (SLC), recently organized an outreach program to the community in partnership with the Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). DSWD received a generous donation of shoes from the SM Foundation, a local foundation engaged in corporate social responsibility. DSWD selected Eleison Foundation as an agency partner to distribute shoes to community members in need.

Survivor leaders in Eleison’s SLC determined that they wanted to organize and lead the shoe drive to the community on behalf of Eleison. The SLC is a client advisory board of survivors who have graduated from at least one of Eleison’s programs. SLC members co-facilitate activities with Eleison staff, engage in outreach to the community, serve as peer role models, and partner with our staff to ensure our programs and research are survivor-centered.

SLC members strategized, planned, coordinated, and implemented the shoe drive themselves. SLC members identified and screened beneficiaries, sorted, packed, and distributed the items, and ensured all documentation was in order. Through the SLC members’ enthusiasm and hard work, the shoe drive was successfully completed. As a survivor-centered organization committed to survivor leadership, we value and are our proud of the SLC’s leadership in serving the community.
