Dr. Carlson (she/her) is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Alabama and Co-Director at Healing and Resilience after Trauma (HaRT). Her research focuses on the intersection of violence and mental health and the implementation of evidence-based interventions in low-resource settings, including research pertaining to suicide prevention among survivors of human trafficking in the Philippines. Her social work practice experience pertains to gender-based violence (GBV), psychosocial programming, child protection, and humanitarian response. She holds a BA in Sociology from Emory University, an MSW from the University of Georgia, and a PhD in Social Work from Columbia University.
