Eleison Foundation is honored to be a member of the Advisory Council for the Philippine Survivor Network (PSN), a program for Filipino survivors of sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, online sexual exploitation, and sexual violence who desire to pursue safe communities and protect the most vulnerable. The PSN is a local chapter of the Global Survivor Network (GSN), an international group of survivors leading a global movement to safeguard communities worldwide from violence by advocating for change and speaking out as leaders.
As a survivor-centered organization, being appointed to the Advisory Council is a testament to Eleison’s dedication to empowering survivors through survivor-centered approaches. We are delighted to serve on the Advisory Council alongside six other organizations throughout the Philippines, the International Justice Mission (IJM), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), the Interagency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the Regional Interagency Council Against Trafficking (RIACAT), and the Sheworks-Made in Hope.
PSN Advisory Council members provide guidance and oversight in helping PSN members achieve their goals and advocacy priorities. The council exemplifies how government and non-government organizations can work together to create positive change by pooling their resources and expertise, amplifying their impact, and providing more effective support to survivors. As a council member, Eleison supports the PSN through leadership development, mentorship, advocacy building, and access to community-based mental health and economic empowerment services. In March 2023, Eleison’s Clinical Program Manager, Carmina Charmaine Domingo, attended the PSN general assembly, which was an opportunity to connect with the other council members, share best practices, and discuss ways to advance the PSN’s mission further.
At Eleison, we value the leadership of survivors, who are integral members of our team and provide continuous feedback on our programs. The members of our Survivor Leadership Council (SLC), a community advisory board comprised of survivor graduates of Eleison’s programs, actively engage in peer mentoring and modeling, and collaborate with our staff to ensure that Eleison’s programming is effective, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of survivors.
We believe survivors’ voices should be heard and centered in all anti-trafficking policies, practices, and advocacies, and we are honored to serve on the PSN Advisory Council. If you want to learn more about Eleison and how you can get involved, you can read more here.
